EXPLORING DUTCH INNOVATION IN SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE: CBSK DELEGATES VISIT TOMATO WORLD AND BEYOND
The Chamber of Business Sector Kenya (CBSK) delegates participated in an insightful series of site visits in the Netherlands, which included a highlight stop at Tomato World, a renowned greenhouse innovation center in Honselersdijk.
Tomato World showcases over 80 tomato varieties, providing a unique setting to explore everything from crop diversity to pest management. Delegates were given hands-on demonstrations of the technology that powers the greenhouses, including LED lighting systems, advanced irrigation, and AI-driven monitoring tools.
The tour continued to other notable facilities that support the Dutch agricultural sector, including seed innovation centers, vertical farming projects, and logistics hubs, where they learned about efficient supply chain practices that reduce waste and maintain high product quality.
These visits emphasized the role of technology, research, and collaboration in building resilient food systems, inspiring them to consider how they could implement similar solutions in Kenya.
